President Obama absolutely did the wrong thing when imposing tariffs on tires manufactured in China. Not only do I think that he did the wrong thing, I also think he did it purely for political reasons. These protectionist policies are actually hurting the industry as a whole rather than helping it. The producers aren’t benefiting, because they have to make a decision to keep their manufacturing in China and pay a lot of money to import it, or to shift their production elsewhere where there is cheap labor. The consumers sure aren’t benefiting, because they are now paying more for low-end tires. Small businesses are also getting hurt by this trade war that Obama has started. There is a decreasing demand for tires right now anyway, because of the state of the economy. Many people can’t afford to go and drop close to a thousand dollars on a set of tires, so they are putting it off. Then once the price goes up by 10-15% that drives demand down even more. This tariff obviously did not make the Chinese government very happy, which is not good, considering that they are the ones that are buying the majority of our debt. This is big government at its best.
The only people who could possibly stand to benefit from such a thing as the tire tariff are the Unions, who want the government to step in and protect them from any sort of foreign competition, that way they can jack up the price of their own labor. I found the quote from Ron Kirk funny, which said “Enforcing trade laws is key to maintaining an open and free trading system.” Wait a second. Enforcing trade laws is the key to a free trading system? So imposing a 35% tax on tire imports from China somehow makes the trading system more free? And all this time, I thought that more regulation meant less freedom. How about reducing trade laws is the key to an open and free trading system. If you scrape away all of the BS from Ron Kirk’s statement (which would leave you with nothing), you could see that what he really meant was “Pandering to the union bosses will get Obama re-elected, therefore securing my job.”

Venice Film Festival Plays Host to Some Real Schmucks
The President isn't the only so-called American who is traveling the world spreading propoganda that America is evil and buddying up with dictators. Michael Moore and Oliver Stone are both in Venice this week promoting their Anti-American films. In Michael Moore's new movie "Capitalism: A Love Story," Moore calls capitalism "evil," saying that it encourages poverty while lifting up the rich man. Last time I checked, Mr. Moore, your net worth was exceeding eight figures. So he is in effect calling the very system that allowed him to accumulate his 50 million plus in net worth evil. If you're that woried about the poor and impoverished, why don't you go find some of those impoverished people that you so dearly care for, give them a place to live and pay for them to get an education so that they can provide for themselves? Doesn't that seem like a more effective way to help someone than to change the capitalist system that this country was built on to a socialist or communist system where everyone is compensated the same no matter how hard they work? If all of these rich-- dare i say- communists, who are so "concerned" about poverty in the United States would invest their money in the people themselves rather than in movies and such that are going to make them more money, then they might be taken a little bit more seriuosly. Michael Moore, you are nothing but a phony and a hypocrate.
Which brings me to Oliver Stone. Many of you may know him from movies that he has directed such as: Any Given Sunday, JFK, World Trade Center, Born on the Fourth of July, and Natural Born Killers. Well, He has a new movie coming out called South of the Border where he travels to Venezuela and teams up with none other than Hugo Chavez to document the changes that put these nice leaders such as Chavez in power. They claim that Hugo Chavez and the like represent the views of the majority of their people, and that they have brought great change to their countries such as reducing poverty and providing healthcare and welfare to their people. Nevermind that they are authoritarian dictators vying for a totalitarian form of government. To use a quote from Hugo Chavez's friend Barack Obama, "You can put lipstick on a pig," but at the end of the day it's still a pig.

I Pledge to Be of Service to Barack Obama!
Is it just me, or is there something very disturbing about this video. Even more disturbing, is that this is supposed to be played in our government schools for all of our kids to see. If I was a parent, I would be on the phone with the superintendent yelling and screaming for them to not be a part of this indoctrination. This is frightening, and if your not pissed off then there is something wrong.

Everybody Hide So You Don't Die From Swine Flu
The big bad swine flu is here and according to Barack's Scientific Advisers, it could kill 90,000 people, while infecting half of the United States. Emergency rooms and intensive care units are going to fill up and hospitals across the country are going to be in chaos. We better hurry up and get this healthcare bill passed before half of the nation comes down with the swine flu and gets bankrupted by hospital bills (sarcasm).
I actually had the swine flu, and I know two other people that had it. My symptoms lasted for- get this- ONE DAY! Now I'm fine. No hospital stay, no medication, nothing.
Don't misunderstand me; the one day that I had the symptoms was pretty bad, however I really have a hard time buying into the scare tactics from the Obama White House.

Lockerbie Bomber is Now a Free Man
Scotland has released Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, the person responsible for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, otherwise known as the Lockerbie Bomber. Apparently he is suffering from terminal prostate cancer with less than three months to live, and the Scottish government thought that it would be a humane thing to free him. What about the 270 people that he was convicted of killing? They weren't allowed to go home and die in the comfort of their own home with their families by their side.
And then you have the Obama administration coming out publicly condemning the Scottish Government for releasing him. There they go again with their rampant hypocracy. When it comes to terrorists in American custody, such as those in Guantanamo, Obama wants nothing to do with them. Why? Because that might adversely affect his global apology tour. So what does he do? He signs an order to shut down Guantanamo and send the majority of the fine folks staying there back home with not so much as a slap on the hand. What about the FALN terrorists whose clemency was secured by Eric Holder and eventually granted by President Clinton?
Its almost funny to hear the Obama hypocrates weigh in on this, given their own track record of being friendly to terrorists. The previous two examples given are just two of the many. Bill Ayers anyone?
