Jerome Ersland: A TRUE HERO!

Many of you have heard of Jerome Ersland, the pharmacist who was bogusly charged with First Degree Murder in the shooting death of Antwun Parker.  Parker along with his accomplice, Jevontai Ingram, went to the Reliable Discount Pharmacy around closing time, when they knew naroctics and money would be most accessable, because this is when they counted their money and took an inventory of narcotics they had on hand.  Though the doors had already been locked, they were let in, because one of the employees thought they just needed to drop off a perscription.  When these two thugs were let in is when all hell broke loose.  Ingram put a board in the door to ensure that they would be able to leave and not be trapped inside.  Too bad for them, they didn't account for Mr. Ersland being armed.  Ersland quickly went for his weapon as soon as Ingram started waving his. Ingram took off once shots were fired, leaving his accomplice Antwun Parker laying in the floor of the pharmacy.  Ersland followed Ingram outside and then soon after came back in and shot Parker five times in the chest.  What cannot be seen by the surveillance is what if any movements Parker was making at the time Mr. Ersland walked back into the pharmacy.  This is where the dillema lies.  Was he incapacitated or not or does it even matter?  Oklahoma County D.A. David Prater is apparently so sure that Parker was no longer even a percieved threat when Mr. Ersland went back into the store and shot him again, that he has decided to charge him with FIRST DEGREE MURDER!

Just so we're clear, here's the Oklahoma statute on First Degree Murder (I excluded parts C, D, and E to save space, as they deal with death resulting from child abuse, murder for hire, and murder of law enforcement officers):

§21-701.7. Murder in the first degree.

A. A person commits murder in the first degree when that person unlawfully and with malice aforethought causes the death of another human being. Malice is that deliberate intention unlawfully to take away the life of a human being, which is manifested by external circumstances capable of proof.

B. A person also commits the crime of murder in the first degree, regardless of malice, when that person or any other person takes the life of a human being during, or if the death of a human being results from, the commission or attempted commission of murder of another person, shooting or discharge of a firearm or crossbow with intent to kill, intentional discharge of a firearm or other deadly weapon into any dwelling or building as provided in Section 1289.17A of this title, forcible rape, robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, escape from lawful custody, eluding an officer, first degree burglary, first degree arson, unlawful distributing or dispensing of controlled dangerous substances, or trafficking in illegal drugs.

Now which one of these applies to Mr. Ersland?  Can't be malice aforethought, after all Mr. Ersland was not the instigator of the situation and therefore did not kill Antwun Parker premeditatedly.  Oh ok, now that I read section B I see where the D.A. is coming from.  Since Mr. Ersland killed Parker during the commission of a robbery, that is where they are coming up with the First Degree Murder charge.  Wait a sec though....ERSLAND WAS THE ONE BEING ROBBED!!!!  Nobody would have died if Parker and Ingram would not have decided to rob this man's pharmacy.  Where this incompetent D.A. gets off charging Mr. Ersland with murder is far beyond me.  Furthermore, I am baffled at the fact that the jury even had to deliberate on this, much less deliberate for three hours and come back with a guilty verdict. Now this man will spend the rest of his life in prison because two thugs attempted to rob him and he fought back. You can bet your last dollar that if someone tried to rob me I would do the exact same thing. I can guarantee this will be appealed and hopefully this verdict will be thrown out. That would be the right thing to do.

One Nation Working Together- Tearing the Country Apart!

There is something very disturbing about an upcoming event in our nation's capital. Leah Daughtry, the 2008 CEO of the DNC and Black Liberation Theologist, has put together a campaign called "One Nation Working Together." One of the main organizations heading this thing up is a group called Organizing for America. Yeah thats Barack Obama's organization. According to their website "One Nation Working Together will chart a bold, pragmatic path toward a more unified, sustainable, prosperous future." Taken at face value, this sounds like a well intentioned rally to unite everyday Americans to work towards a better future, much like Glenn Beck's 8/28 restoring Honor Rally. This could not be further from the truth. Here are a few organizations endorsing the One Nation Working Together rally:
  • Organizing for America (President Obama's Organization)
  • SEIU
  • NAACP
  • UAW
  • Rainbow PUSH Coalition
  • National Council of La Raza
  • AFL/CIO
  • National Teachers Union
  • Communist Party USA
  • Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network
  • War Resisters League
  • Color of Change
  • Code Pink
  • Campus Progress
  • Coffee Party Progressives
  • Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition
  • National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth
  • Democratic Socialists of America
  • Queers for Economic Justice
  • United Methodist Church- General Board of Church and Society
  • National Baptist Convention USA

These are just a few of the many questionable organizations that are supporting this rally. For a full list you can go to One Nation Working Together. Call me Captain Obvious here, but The President of the United States has some pretty shady associations. Some of these organizations just make you say: "What the hell?" For example: from Queers for Economic Justice "...We do this work because although poor queers have always been a part of both the gay rights and economic justice movements, they have been, and continue to be, largely invisible in both movements." Are these people joking, I mean come on, it doesn't get any more blatant than that. Why all the churches endorsing and supporting this rally? Simple. The gospel has been perverted and twisted into, for lack of a better word, a social justice handbook. Instead of the individual and the church reaching out and helping those in need, this social justice doctrine calls on the government (specifically United States Government) to pass laws and throw money at problems such as poverty that cannot be simply solved with money. It IS NOT the governments job!! It is the job of the church.

Lets go back to the quote from the One Nation Working Together website- "One Nation Working Together will chart a bold, pragmatic path toward a more unified, sustainable, prosperous future." Bold? Absolutely! Pragmatic? Depends on who you ask, but probably not. Unified, sustainable, and prosperous future? Hell no; not if these people have anything to do with it. The people in attendance at the rally on October 2nd will be marching towards the opposite. They want a fundamental "change" in the country. Call me crazy, but it seems to me that the progressives are trying to transform the government from the greatest democracy the world has ever seen to a tyrannical marxist state, and they are becoming more bold about it every day. I would challenge anyone who disagrees with me to name me one communist OR socialist state that has seen economic prosperity and a free society? You can not do it because both of these types of government are inherently tyrannical.

From One Nation Working Together's mission statement: "We march for a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. We march for jobs, justice, and education. We march for an economy that works for all. We march for a nation in which each person who wants to work can find a job that pays enough to support a family." This is absolutely laughable. Let me be clear. You DO NOT march for the American Dream. You march for jobs, but yet your march is endorsed overwhelmingly by labor unions. These same labor unions drive up the employer's costs so high that they are forced to go overseas to drive down costs to remain profitable, putting Americans out of work. You march for justice (AKA equality), but equality is not what you really want. You want a handout from the government. You want to put yourself on a pedestal. If you truly wanted equality you would live your life like every other American and stop pulling the race card, the gay card, the lesbian card, or whatever other card will get you a handout. I don't care what race you are- white, black, latino, indian, asian, whatever, doesn't matter. Work hard, be a productive member of society and just live your life. Whats the point of spending your whole life with a chip on your shoulder? If you are gay, fine live your life the way you choose; I believe in personal freedom to do as you choose. Just don't parade around throwing it in peoples face and expect them to embrace your lifestyle and point of view. You mind your business and I'll mind mine.
